Wells Fargo to Partner with Habitat for Humanity for Las Cruces Build Day

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – December 6, 2013 – On Saturday, December 7, Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) team members will partner with Mesilla Valley Habitat for Humanity to support a home build in Las Cruces. The bank will also present a $15,000 check to support the project.

The 3-bedroom home, located at 4718 Whitney Place, will be constructed for Jacob Herrera Sr. and his three children. Approximately 20 Wells Fargo team members will be participating in the build day.

“We appreciate Wells Fargo supporting affordable housing in our community,” stated Marie Schwartz, Executive Director for Mesilla Valley Habitat for Humanity. “We’ll enjoy having the Wells Fargo team take part in the building process alongside the Herrera family to help them achieve their dream.”

“Wells Fargo has supported Habitat for Humanity’s affordable housing work for nearly 20 years, which is one example of our focus on doing what’s right for our communities,” said Lisa Austin, Area Sales Manager for Wells Fargo’s Home Mortgage team. “Together we have made a difference with low-income families who now have homes in which they can take great pride – a mission that Wells Fargo has always deemed critically important.”

Wells Fargo will be contributing $15,000 to support the Las Cruces home build through the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation. Established in 1993, the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation is committed to increasing low to moderate-income homeownership through the development of affordable housing.

In 2013, Wells Fargo awarded $1.8 million in grants to support 233 housing organizations across the country. In New Mexico, Wells Fargo has committed over $75,000 this year to support six additional Habitat for Humanity home builds in Albuquerque, Clovis, Hobbs, Portales, Santa Fe, and Silver City.

This will be Mesilla Valley Habitat for Humanity’s 93rd home build since its founding in 1987.
